Representing Tunisia at an African Art Exhibition in Seoul

On May 26, 2022, I had the privilege of representing Tunisia at an African art exhibition held in Seoul, organized by the Korea-Africa Foundation and presented along the cultural corridor of Dohwaseo-gil in Jongno-gu — a historic and vibrant center of artistic life in the city.
This exhibition brought together works by master artists of African contemporary art — including iconic figures such as Edward Saidi Tingatinga, celebrated for his bold colors and narrative brushwork; Hendrik Lilanga, known for his expressive figuration and playful scenes; and Joel Mpadu, whose compositions meditate on form, space, and humanity.

Walking through the gallery, I felt the powerful presence of these artistic voices. Their work speaks with immediacy, color, and rhythm, and it resonated deeply with my own engagement with visual culture and artistic expression. It was a moment of connection, not only to the vibrant diversity of African art, but also to Seoul's unique cultural fabric — a city where global art dialogues unfold spontaneously in public spaces.
The exhibition was open from May 25 to June 6, welcoming visitors of all backgrounds to encounter the creative energy and visual languages of the African continent.
This experience continues to inspire me — not just as an artist and researcher, but as someone who believes deeply in the shared power of creative encounters to transform how we see the world.
