Curatorial note

It was on the road to Tozeur, a city in southern Tunisia that I met this carpet merchant. If I remember correctly, it was during my wandering through the alleys of the village that I were stroked by the eye-catching purple colors that adorn a carpet stall. Sitting like an ascetic, in the middle of his shop, the carpet merchant marked me with his calm, his eyes revealing a peaceful life without torment. This calm, I could not have expressed it except by Earth tone, the soil of the south, the land of the sun, the motherland, the earth that envelops us.

The carpets perpetuate the return to tradition which values the Berber culture, the traces of which can be seen in the symbols which signify wisdom, calm and prosperity.
